House extension in Norfolk creates the perfect getaway space
Extending a home can open up many opportunities, not just to enhance your living experience, but also in terms of home run businesses. In this coronavirus world, with more and more people working from home, many are finding it hard to find the disconnect between home space and work.
By having an extension built onto your property, you can create an entirely new area for a home office, or like our latest completed project you could take it further and have a multi purpose extension which serves as a family play room space, a separate home office, and separate self contained Airbnb.
In a lovely quiet village on the outskirts of Norwich, our clients had bought a wonderful home finished to a very high standard. Since moving in, their family expanded and home working needs increased, meaning that it was essential to create an extension on the home to add space for the family. This added a separate working environment, play room and also add a separate entrance bedroom with en-suite which will allow for Airbnb rentals.
The space that has been created, designed by Howie Architects, is remarkable. Although striking in design, the extension, finished in sustainable red cedar wood cladding, is a seamless blend into the existing property, making it seem as though it has always been there. The design has it’s it own secure entrance into the new bedroom and luxury ensuite which can then be secured away from the remainder of the home. The benefit to our clients is that although they are technically letting out a ‘room’ within their home on Airbnb, simply because it is attached – it has the feel of a self contained apartment. This also allows for a completely contactless business to be operated, amongst concerns with social distancing.
The light and airy home office space created within the extension benefits from Velux windows to allow light to pour in during the day, and can be closed off from the remainder of the house but is adjacent to the new play room which is open plan and leads through to the original kitchen/diner in the home.
Bespoke Norfolk Group are able to take on a project at various points in a clients journey – for this particular project we came recommended by the clients architect, which meant they already had their drawings and planning permission, and were ready to put their project out for quotes. When asked why Bespoke Norfolk Group were chosen amongst other builders in the Norwich area, it was because of our high quality finish and availability.
Now that the project is complete our clients commented how pleased they are with the end result; “Everything has been completed to a really high standard. The guys working on site were great, very considerate, and the project didn’t feel too invasive on us despite the fact they had to knock through into the house at one point.”
If you are looking for a rural, peaceful stay in a modern annex which brings you the comforts of your own home, coupled with scandi influenced decor then you really must check out the property now that it’s complete on Airbnb:
